GRANITE FALLS, Minnesota, April 18, 2024 - The next Prairie Sportsman features a nonprofit that advocates for fishing improvements in Minnesota and a Mayo Clinic doctor who prescribes outdoor therapy for stress-related ailments. “MN-Fish and Biophilia Rx” airs Sunday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. on Pioneer PBS. Check local listings and our showtimes landing page for air dates and times on other PBS stations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and Wyoming. In “A Voice For Anglers,” Host Bret Amundson visits with members of MN-FISH, a nonprofit created to be a voice for Minnesota anglers at the State Capitol and with the DNR. MN-FISH is working to improve access to lakes and rivers, and secure funding for improvements to fisheries and fisheries management tools, including state hatcheries. Bret gets a close-up look at the St. Paul Hatchery, which is in dire need of overhaul or replacement. 

The next segment, “Nature Rx,” features a Mayo Clinic Research Director who says prescribing time outdoors can help treat depression, blood pressure, stress-related ailments like headaches and back pain, and improve memory retention.
